Today we will be focusing on the presidency of Thomas Jefferson. Your assignment will be to read an article on Marbury v. Madison the monumental court case of Jefferson's presidency and then read about the legacy of Jefferson.

3) Why is the Marbury v. Madison case still important in our society?
4) Do you think Jefferson was justified? Do you agree with Marshall’s ruling?

Using the Library of Congress online exhibit "Thomas Jefferson," analyze Thomas Jefferson's life and legacy.
Click on the following link for the section "Establishing a Federal Republic". Describe Jefferson's influence in shaping the new republic. Select one document that demonstrates Jefferson's influence.

Describe Jefferson's life after the presidency. View the letters Jefferson exchanged with his granddaughter regarding slavery. How were their views similar or different?
